About the 205 exam
This exam tends to split the electrical training world into two. Those who regurlarly work on site, in an electrical capacity, tend to walk this exam. Those who are a bit more mature and work in allied trades also tend to walk it. Those who don't work at all within a related industry tend to struggle quite a lot. Much of what is in the exam is common sense, questions on fixing methods for instance rely on you knowing the different types and having installed a variety of different types of equipment.
Other areas will need a little more dedication. A good example is cable calculations, although you won't be expected to complete a whole calculation, there may well be questions on any point during the calculation. Design current, voltage drop and earth loop impedance can all present themselves in the exam. This exam will also introduce the fundamental principles of inspection and test, specifically looking at the dead test sequence.
