Containing over 350 questions based on Approved Document P and other relevant Building Regulations. Designed for Domestic Installer courses, this software package is invaluable for negotiating the different courses on offer to enable registration on a competent persons scheme. Please note, this exam will not be suitable after January 1st 2012 to enable you to register with competent person schemes but it will still be available for those wishing to learn the basics of domestic installation work. Available for the PC and Mac (click here for specification).
The exam covers the following topics:
Since the introduction of Part P of the Building Regulations 2000, trades such as plumbers, kitchen fitters and security installers now need to ensure that any additions or alterations to an electrical installation within a domestic environment should be both safe and conform to Building Regulations, BS7671 17th Edition Wiring Regulations and of course the Electricity At Work Regulations 1989. One way of complying with current legislation is to join what is known as a competent persons scheme, such as those operated by NAPIT, ELECSA or the NICEIC, each of which allows you to certify work and use them as notifiers to Building Control. These are then known as Domestic Installer Schemes.
To be able to do this safely, you should be able to display levels of competence. Although difficult to prove competence, a qualification combined with experience is the most convenient method of doing so. For this reason, companies such as the NICEIC offer the DISQ course, more information on the NICEICs course can be found here: http://www.niceic.com/.
Please be aware that if you intend to use this qualification for registration as mentioned above, you will need to do so before the end of December 2011 as the qualification needed to be a qualified supervisor will be upped to an NVQ Level 3.
