Sometimes we need to expand on the 2 way circuit and introduce extra controls. This is done by introducing an intermediate switch between the 2 way switches. As many intermediates can be used as is necessary so long as they are installed between the 2 way switches. Care should be taken not to cross the strappers between top and bottom of the switch. This application is useful in places such as long corridors with more than one entrance/exit.
Questions on the various different lighting circuits appear in the 2330-201, 2330-205 and the 2357-305 exams.

Any room that had several entrances would use this type of circuit. It can also be used in longer corridors and on many flights of stairs so the lights can be switched off on any level.
