2 Way Lighting Circuit

It is often necessary to control a lamp from more than one location. By utilising 2 ways switches and strappers (the cables in between the two operating switches) we can effectively control the lamp from 2 different locations, such as the top and bottom of stairs. The circuit shown below is known as the "conventional" method.

Questions on the various different lighting circuits appear in the 2330-201, 2330-205 and the 2357-305 exams.

Where would a two way lighting circuit be used?

Any room that more than one entrance would use this type of circuit. It can also be used in corridors and on flight of stairs.
